چکیده

We discover a definite correlation between the frequency of the quasi-periodic oscillations (QPO) in quiescence states and the duration of the quiescence state of the transient X-ray source GRS 1915+105. We find that while the QPO frequency can be explained with the oscillation of shocks in accretion flows, the switching of burst to quiescence states (and vice versa) and their duration can be explained by assuming an outflow from the post-shock region. The duration of the quiescence state is inversely related to the QPO-frequency. We derive this relation. We also find the correlation between the observed low (∼ 0.001 − 0.01Hz) and the intermediate (1 − 10Hz) QPO frequencies. Our analytical solutions are verified by analyzing several days of public-domain data from RXTE. Subject headings: accretion, accretion disks — black hole physics — hydrodynamics — shock waves — stars: individual (GRS 1915+105) — X rays: stars

On the source of QPO of the black hole candidate GRS 1915 + 105 : some new observations and their interpretation

A few classes of the light curve of the black hole candidate GRS 1915+105 have been analyzed in detail. We discover that unlike the previous findings, QPOs occasionally occur even in the so-called ‘On’ or softer states. Such findings may require a revision of the accretion/wind scenario of the black hole candidates. We conjecture that considerable winds which is produced in ‘Off’ states, cool d...

From data obtained from the PCA in the 2-11 keV and 11-30.5 keV energy range, GRS 1915+105 is seen during RXTE observations between 1996 May and October on two separate branches in a hardness intensity diagram. On the hard branch, GRS 1915+105 exhibits narrow quasi-periodic oscillations ranging from 0.5 to 6 Hz with ∆ν ν ∼ 0.2. The QPOs are observed over intensities ranging from about 6,000 to ...

The binary components of GRS 1915 + 105

I summarize recent near-infrared spectroscopy of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 with the ESO/VLT which allowed to (i) identify the donor and (ii) measure the orbital period and radial velocity amplitude. Assuming that the jet ejections occur perpendicular to the accretion disk and orbital plane, the mass of the black hole is determined to M = 14 ± 4 M⊙. I discuss the implications of this mass det...

We report the discovery in archival Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) data of a ∼ 40 Hz quasiperiodic oscillation (QPO) in the hard X-ray flux from the galactic microquasar GRS 1915+105. The QPO is detected only in the hard X-ray band above ∼ 13 keV and was discovered in observations in which the previously known 67 Hz QPO is present. The 40 Hz QPO has a typical rms amplitude of ∼ 2% in the 13...
